Every Halloween, I make trick-or-treat bags for my family and friends. I usually fill them with healthier, sugar-free treats that I‘ve made myself, but this year I decided to fill them with some cute Halloween goodies by Choc Zero. I’ve seen Choc Zero products for a long time, but never did try them because I thought the sweetener wasn’t good and they had too many carbs. One of the sweeteners they use, besides Monk Fruit, is Non-GMO Resistant Dextrine. What in the world is that?🤷‍♀️ My first thoughts were that doesn’t sound good at all! I saw huge warning flags and never tried any of the Choc Zero products, even though they all looked amazing and, I bet, tasted very good.

So I was trying to decide on the Halloween treat bags and thought of all the cute candies I had seen in the past. I went to the Choc Zero website and did some more investigating on the ingredients and was very surprised to learn that Non-GMO Resistant Dextrine is not only a great ingredient for those with diabetes and those on keto, but actually can help LOWER blood sugar, decrease insulin resistance, act as a pre-biotic for gut health AND, are you ready for this? AIDS in WEIGHT LOSS! 😱 It’s the miracle ingredient! I’m down for all those things! We need to eat candy! Ha! 😃

I don’t know from my own first-hand experience with this ingredient yet. I will do some blood sugar testing and would urge anyone else to do so too. I am giving these goodies away to people who are not diabetic, but Choc Zero has several products that would be great for me if they don’t impact my blood sugar or, even better yet, help lower it! I will update this post with blood sugar testing information when I do it. Below is a small sample of some information I have come across.

So now, I am back to choosing some Choc Zero Halloween goodies because I feel reasonably certain that the sweetener situation is all good. I also chose a few products based on the total carb count. There are some Choc Zero products that I think are just too carby, but I think there are some that are good in small quantities. Here are the ones I chose. 🎃

These are the Choc Zero Halloween “Dunkies” cookies that resemble Oreos. Two chocolate cookies with an orange-colored cream filling. I liked these. They weren’t exactly like an Oreo, but very close. They come in a cute tin, and you get a lot of cookies for only $8.99. The carb count is 6.5 g per cookie, which is not bad! But this is kind of interesting. There is a warning on their website that the cookies did not meet their high-quality standards, but they are working on it. I thought they were good. There was a bit of an off-taste, but not that much. I’m used to keto products not tasting exactly like their carby version, but close and I think that's what these cookies are. 🍪

The next goodies are these adorable chocolate pumpkins! 🎃 They are festively packaged in milk, white, and dark chocolate. I loved these, particularly the white chocolate. They are small but would still make a nice little treat at only two carbs each. Only $6.99 for 34 pieces! What a deal! This is the milk chocolate flavor info, but the other flavors are very similar. 🍫

These weren’t packaged for Halloween, but my son loves Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, so I tried the three flavors of milk, white, and dar. Three bags of 6 for $8.97! Another great deal! They were very good. Close to a Reese’s in taste, but a slight texture change. Very creamy,. but not exact of course.I loved the white chocolate again. They are 8 carbs per cup. Definitely a good thing to try. 🥜🍫

I must say I was very impressed with every Choc Zero product I tried. It's definitely a treat to have in moderation. Sweets don’t have the same appeal for me anymore, so I don’t have trouble resisting them. Nuts are a whole other story! 😱 But if sweet things are something that would trigger you, proceed with caution and test to make sure the whole Non-GMO Resistant Dextrine thing is not a vast conspiracy! Ha! I’ll update this post soon with my testing, but I wanted to get it out there because Halloween is fast approaching. Still, time though, I think. The shipping was fast; it came packaged with cold packs in a nice protected box and is free for orders over $34.99! So plenty of time before Halloween!🎃

Go to choczero.com to order. Also on the site many more products to check out, just be careful with the carb counts.
