The author certainly shakes up a lot of common misconceptions about salt with this salt shaker of a book! Don’t you hear so much about salt and how you have to watch it, eat less of it, don’t eat any at all? But it is a vital mineral that our bodies need to function properly and thrive! For those of us on keto diets, we have to make sure we add enough salt. This book debunks all the common myths about salt and, with lots of scientific evidence, sets the salt shaker record straight! 🧂

I read this book a couple of years ago and ever since my view on salt has changed and I realize now the importance of it and am more conscious of adding more to my diet, especially being in keto.

In this book, Dr. DiNicolantonio presents his case against the prevailing belief that salt is universally harmful and should be drastically reduced in our diets. He argues that the low-salt diet recommendations that have been widely promoted in recent years may be flawed and may not lead to improved health outcomes.

Audible has changed my life. I “read” so many more books because I can listen and do other things at the same time. Audible has the world’s largest audio book collection, including children’s books to help instill a love of reading. Try for 30 days at no cost and get up to two books for free!

He asserts that a moderate salt intake can have several health benefits, such as improved cardiovascular health, better athletic performance, and enhanced insulin sensitivity. He challenges the notion that reducing salt intake is necessary to lower blood pressure in everyone, suggesting that the impact of salt on blood pressure varies among individuals.

The book delves into the historical context of salt consumption, highlighting how humans have relied on salt throughout history and its crucial role in various bodily functions. DiNicolantonio explores the potential dangers of consuming too little salt, such as increased insulin resistance, elevated stress hormones, and impaired cardiovascular function.

Furthermore, the book addresses the relationship between salt intake and weight management, suggesting that a moderate salt intake may help control appetite and prevent overeating. DiNicolantonio supports his arguments with scientific studies and references, aiming to challenge the prevailing dogma surrounding salt restriction.

However, it's important to note that "The Salt Fix" has garnered criticism and controversy within the scientific community. Some experts argue that the book oversimplifies complex research findings and may not provide a comprehensive view of salt intake and health evidence. Critics emphasize the importance of individualized recommendations and caution against broad generalizations.

So, as with any book, it’s important to do your due diligence and talk with your physician, and health coach to determine the best approach to salt in your diet. But if you read this book or even just from reading this review I hope it makes you more aware of salt and all its numerous health benefits! 😊

Wishing you good health and happiness,

Denise🩷

This book has Literally changed my life!!!!!!!!!

I avoided salt like the plague, as per my C ardiologist since my diagnosis of Congestive Heart Failure when i stopped breathing in 2018.

i read this book while taking part in a Clinical Trial at Yale for CHF sufferers, and they majorly pushed the salt, 4500mg/day, when i had been getting at most 1000 or so from incidental sources since 2018)... which Terrified me!

To my surprise, Everything he said in this book was TRUE, and more. My water retention went Way down, my heart beats per minure (BPM) dropped 10 beats per minute, (mid 60' to low 50's) my prescription diuretics worked MUCH better and my blood pressure dropped lik…
