I just saw the word âcroissantâ and had to try this recipe! Of course thsee chaffles are not flaky, like a croissant, but I think they do achieve a reasonable keto facsimile. They make a very tasty treat, stuffed with the melted chocolate, and only 2.5 carbs. Thatâs very good for a sweet dessert-type recipe.
I added a splash of vanilla and used milk chocolate chips from Lilyâs and the milk chocolate salted caramel flavor. Both were very good. These chaffle croissants could be filled with anything you like. Berries, pumpkin, you could go savory with ham and cheese or pepperoni and marinara.
You could also make them in a larger waffle maker, but the Dash mini did a great job! I didn't read the recipe thoroughly enough and missed the instruction that they should bake for 5-8 minutes. However, they turned out just fine without that step, and the heat of the chaffles melted the chocolate well. Nevertheless, I'd like to try baking them just to see if it would improve their texture or taste. đ«đ„
Donât cook the chaffles as long as usual, you want them to be able to fold.
Then fold the chaffle over take a fork and crimp the edges and it magically stays closed!
