I’m obsessed with the lettuce-wrapped double cheeseburger from In ‘n Out and decided to make one myself! This was good, but I kept buying from In ‘n Out! Hah! But if you don’t have an In ‘n Out in your area this is a great way to have one!
Start by seasoning ground chuck however you like. I use One-and-done seasoning, salt, and added pepper. Shape into thin patties and grill or pan-fry. Add sliced cheddar cheese to all the patties.
While the burgers are cooking, you can add raw or caramelized onions. I always get both! So caramelize the onions however you like. I just slice them and cook them in butter. Add seasoning salt.
Take crispy iceberg lettuce and lay several leaves out flat.
In ‘n Out uses a spread that has sugar, and I don’t get it when I go there, but I made the spread sugar-free by mixing mayo, sugar-free ketchup, and dill pickle relish together. Spread that on the lettuce. Add the patties with cheese.
Then top the burgers with raw or grilled onions, tomatoes, and, if you like, sliced yellow peppers.
Add more iceberg lettuce on top, and presto, an In ‘n Out Double Double Protein Style!
