I’m going to get this out of the way right off the bat! Are these recipes as good as their carby version? NO! They are not! But are they good and make me happy because I’m eating tasty, recipes that I know won’t damage my health! Starting a ketogenic diet involves exploring foods that meet nutritional ketosis criteria and are enjoyable to eat, but I miss bread! I've tried making SO many keto bread recipes and some have been successful and some have not. I don't enjoy keto baking that much because I am always disappointed if what I'm making doesn't taste like the "real thing" aka carby bread! It also can be very time consuming dealing with ingredients I'm not familiar with and I don't always know how things will turn out. Psyllium Husk! I don't even know what that is or where it comes from, but I'm supposed to be using it in keto baking? There are definitely keto bread products on the market and most are very good. Do you want to know why they are good? They usually all contain wheat! Wheat is NOT keto, and these products are mostly very high in carbs, even though they are supposedly keto! This adds up to being very no bueno for me because the wheat can also impact my blood sugar! So what to do about this keto bread conundrum? Fox Hil Kitchens is the answer of course! My search is truly over! The search for a satisfying bread alternative leads us right to Fox Hill Kitchens with their Bread Mix and all their other amazing products. This mix allows keto dieters to enjoy bread without compromising their health or state of ketosis.

Fox Hill Kitchens developed a bread mix that is low in carbohydrates and gluten-free. This makes it suitable for various recipes, not just bread. The nutritional content per serving also includes zero sugar, very low carb, and all done with very good, high quality ingredients.

I have been buying Fox Hill Kitchens bread products for at least a couple of years now. Their products truly are amazing because they are certified Keto and Gluten-Free. Most manufactured keto breads contain wheat in one form or the other which definitely isn’t keto and Fox Hill Kitchens has absolutely NO WHEAT! I had been buying the ready-made rolls, buns, bagels, crisps, and croutons because I am keto-baking challenged! I just prefer to leave keto-baking to the professionals, but I had a couple of bags of the Fox Hill Kitchens Bread Mix and decided to throw caution into the wind and I made some rolls and buns! The Bread Mix made the whole process so easy. Here’s a great video to show how it’s done!

So easy to make and I love how the bread rises and gets all fluffy and puffy! It’s a keto miracle too, because there is no sugar in this mix for the yeast to activate! The video also states to wait 20 minutes after taking the rolls out of the oven, well that didn’t happen! Those rolls looked so good I couldn’t stand it (I am bread deprived after all!) so I immediately split one open and spread it with butter. Oh my heavens, it tasted so good! The other rolls I did reluctantly manage to let rest and not have another one. I truly could have eaten them all, well almost. I used these rolls for sandwiches and hamburgers and if the Bread Mix is split into 9 larger roll, like for hamburgers, that makes them 7 carbs apiece. You could definitely make an open faced sandwich and cut the carbs down to 3.5. I thought they were fantastic, but don’t just take my word on it, here Is the great 2 Krazy Ketos couple and their review. (This is a 3 year old video so ignore the price and it’s possible the coupon codes aren’t active now, I will supply a current link and discount code! YAY!)

See, I told you! This Fox Hill Kitchens Bread Mix is AMAZING!

Here’s the link to take you to the Bread Mix Bundle and use discount code- virtaworks for 15% off your order of regularly priced items, the bundles are already discounted and they come with free shipping also. It would be great to try some of the amazing other products! I like to have the option now to make my buns and rolls, but if I'm in a hurry I keep the ready made FHK products in the freezer.

Ingredients and Nutritional Benefits

Fox Hill Kitchens provides a solution for those following keto, low-carb, paleo, and gluten-free diets. The Bread Mix caters to high nutritional standards and dietary flexibility.

The mix includes:

  • Organic Coconut Flour: Rich in fiber, protein, and healthy fats, coconut flour has fewer carbs than traditional wheat flour. Specifically, it contains 68.7g of carbohydrates per 100 grams. This makes it a better option for those on a low-carb diet.

  • Almond flour, rich in nutrients: This flour is high in vitamins (like Vitamin E), minerals (including Manganese and Magnesium), and antioxidants. It's low in carbs and high in fiber. The slight sweetness of almond flour makes it a favorite for various recipes.

  • Psyllium Husk Powder: Known for its high fiber content, psyllium husk powder has a low glycemic index. It aids in digestion and helps maintain a sense of fullness. It is crucial for regulating blood sugar levels, making it beneficial for individuals with diabetes or those on specific diets.Psyllium Husk PowderGlycemic IndexImpact on Blood SugarLowLowHelps regulate blood sugar and improve insulin sensitivity.

  • Egg white powder for high-quality protein: This provides high-quality protein without added fats and cholesterol.

  • Starch-Free Baking Powder, Himalayan Salt, Yeast for fermentation: These ingredients help the bread rise well and taste great, all while keeping the carb content low.

This ingredient combination ensures that the bread doesn't spike blood sugar levels. It's ideal for managing diabetes, following a ketogenic diet, or seeking a healthier alternative to traditional bread. The zero sugar content supports low-carb and keto diets, maintaining steady energy levels.

Fox Hill Kitchens' commitment to quality is reflected in the satisfaction of their customers. Many reviews praise the mix's versatility for creating keto-friendly dinner rolls, gluten-free pizza crusts, and more. These recipes support a healthy lifestyle without compromising on flavor or texture.

Based on the nutrition label there are 54 carbs for the entire bag of bread mix. Just divide that number by the number of rolls you make or by the number of pizza crusts, etc. so for 9 large buns the carb count per bun would be 7 total carbs with all the other ingredients also included.

The dough is also1.8g net carbohydrates per serving if you count net carbs.

The FoxHill Kitchens Bread Mix is versatile. It can be used in numerous bread mix recipes, offering the same 1.8g net carbs per serving, such as:

  • Buns, Bagels, and Keto Friendly Dinner Rolls

  • Pizza

  • Pockets

  • Wraps

  • Focaccia

  • Pancakes

  • Flatbread

  • Appetizers

  • French Toast

  • Croutons

  • English Muffins

  • Sandwich Bread

  • Crescent Dough

  • Chaffles

  • Tortillas

This low carb bread mix enables a wide range of dishes, from burgers and sandwiches to keto-friendly bagels and focaccia.

This article focuses on creative ways to use Fox Hill Kitchens Bread Mix. I will showcase recipes that highlight its versatility. Whether you're new to the keto diet or well-acquainted with it, these ideas are meant to inspire your meal planning with delicious, keto-friendly and dairy-free options.

Of course after making the rolls I had to experiment some more. On another day I decided I wanted to make a pizza crust, and some cheesesteak rolls! Here’s the photographic evidence!

And here is the link to the Bread Mix instructions. Very easy to make!

Keto Recipe Ideas Using Fox Hill Kitchens Bread Mix

Here’s how I made the pizza crust, two cheesesteak rolls, and I used the remaking dough like keto canned crescent dough and made pigs in a blanket with this great bread mix and a few basic Ingredients.

One of those Danish Dough Whisk thingys was the perfect tool to mix the dough with I’ll put a link below for one

After it was mixed, the bowl was covered for four hours.

And with a wave of a magic Danish Dough Whisk, there is risen sugar-free, wheat-free keto bread dough. Keto dough that rises, it’s a beautiful thing!

I cut the dough to make a medium pizza crust, cheesesteak rolls, and the dough for the pigs in a blanket.

Crescent Dough

I then rolled out the dough to make the “crescent dough.”

This needs a bit more practice I didn’t have the Lil Smokies sausages, but used a larger piece of jalapeño cheddar sausage by Ecrich. I think more sausage is always a good choice!

They did turn out super yummy! I think the dough looked very “crescenty.”

Pizza Crusts and Cheesesteak Rolls

Here are the pizza crust and the cheesesteak rolls fresh out of the oven. For the pizza I pre-baked it on 325 degrees for about 8 minutes, then just top with your favorite pizza toppings and bake until everything is melted.

I actually loved the pizza crust! It held up well to all the toppings, but I would like to experiment and put the toppings on the raw dough next time and compare the two crusts and see which way I like best. I’m so tired of trying to find the best keto pizza crust, I think this could very well be the one!

I saved the rolls and made Dallas Cheesesteak the next night. I call them that because I add sliced jalapeños in with the green pepper and onion. The rolls did great the next day warmed and toasted in the air fryer or oven.

Here’s the recipe for these great cheesesteaks. Super Good!

This dough also makes a great hamburger bun! It’s sturdy and holds the hamburger ingredients very well!

Large Buns

You can also make or buy smaller buns that I like to use for sandwiches or sliders.

Small Buns

Small Dinner Roll

I've discovered that the bread dough keeps for a few days in the fridge and I can take out enough to make just one roll. One beautiful little fresh baked roll and it's only approximately 3.5 carbs. I can make a mini sandwich or use just butter. I also like natural peanut butter and sugarfree jam. Or Choc Zero has a great sugarfree hazelnut spread. It's a little carby so you have to be careful with it. I'll put the links for the jam and hazelnut spread at the bottom of this post. SOOO good on a FHK roll!

Tortillas

I was SO excited to try the Bread Mix recipe for tortillas! The entire almost seven years on keto I have been searching for a good keto tortilla! I preferred to find one I could just buy, but I think they all are good, but they are very high in carbs and most contain wheat. This mix makes fantastic tortillas and I must admit are very easy to make and can be made quickly in the microwave! They are low-carb and stay soft and flexible, perfect for tacos, quesadillas, or keto enchiladas. This shows that dietary restrictions don’t limit flavor or diversity in meals.

I wrote a post about low carb tortillas and at the bottom is my experience with the Fox Hill Kitchens tortillas using their bread mix! Spoiler Alert, they are AMAZING!

Empanadas

These empanadas were an experiment, but still need a little work before the recipe can be published. But I just wanted to show that you can take a tortilla and fill it with spiced meat and cheese, then either roll it up or fold it in half then pan fryit. The tortilla browns super fast but it’s super tasty!

Chaffles

I have found another use for the FHK Bread Mix is in chaffles! This mix is SO versatile and I just keep an open bag in my refrigerator at all times and I just use lla spoonful in chaffle recipes because of all the great ingredients, including baking powder and yeast in the mix, it gives anything you add it to a bread-like texture and is so easy because it's all these ingredients in one mix! Very handy!

Pancakes

One day, when I had leftover tortilla batter, I

looked at it and wondered how a pancake

would taste. So of course I had to try it and

the pancakes were very good. I would like to

experiment just a little more with them though.

Possibly vary the amount of mix or add some

cream cheese. They were on the delicate side,

but they tasted great!

Breading

Once I started on this mission to see what

all I could make with this FHK bread mix, my

mind just wouldn't shut off! I was like, "What

if I did this with it or I wonder what would

happen if I did that?" So one day I was about

to bread some shrimp with my usual pork rind

pork panko and I thought, "Hmm I think I'll try

the FHK bread mix as the breading!" So I

added spices to the bread mix and tried just

one and liked it. I'm not sure if it's better than

pork panko, but it was a little different and it

was good! Maybe mixing them together would

be something to try!

Here's how I did it.

This was basically another experiment, but surprisingly good. The amount of brown sugar sweetener needed made these not a good keto choice. So sorry! But this shows how versatile the FHK Bread Mix is!

(I have officially lost it

trying to make this cereal?Ha!) Way too much

Just a little fun experiment never to be experimented again!😄

More dessert ideas

There are so many other desserts than can be made. I need to experiment with dessert

loaves, cookies, and cakes. Of course the possibilities are enless with chaffles. But a very

creative use of the bread mix is preparing bases for spreads and toppings. These transform a simple snack into a treat. For example, using the Hazelnut Chocolate Spread by Choc Zero I spoke of earlier on a slice of keto bread creates a delicious dessert. As Fox Hill Kitchens' website mentioned on December 15, 2022, this spread is a guilt-free way to enjoy chocolate.

Adding The Perfect Keto Whipped Cream (Multiple Variations!) to your dessert offers a smooth finish. Introduced on November 20, 2022, this whipped cream can top pumpkin spice bread pudding or a bowl of mixed berries.

For colder months, or when craving comfort food, consider low-carb Pumpkin Spice Bread Pudding. Made with Fox Hill Kitchens bread mix, it satisfies seasonal cravings without deviating from keto principles. The dish combines pumpkin spice and bread pudding's comforting texture. Key ingredients include pure pumpkin purée, sprouted whole grain bread, coconut sugar, spices (nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, cloves), and water. This shows classic comfort foods can fit into a keto diet. You can use the bread mix to make rolls or a loaf or buy the Bunz already made.

Fox Hill Kitchens' Bread Mix allows you to make so many delicious, keto-friendly opportunities. This versatile bread mix allows for savory sandwiches, sliders, tortillas, chaffles, delightful desserts and so much more. It's a grain-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free option for your baking needs and fits perfectly into a keto diet.

I feel like I'm leaving out something I've made! Ha! I've done a lot of experimentation with more to come! I am just so excited to use and talk about this great product with you, because bread and keto have not gone together that well, until now thanks to Fox Hill Kitchens. I hope this makes your keto journey a lot better and much more sustainable! I would love to hear if you make things with this great bread mix! Please experiment with me!
