Every month I get a fun selection of keto products from The Keto Box and itās like Christmas to me because I have the best time trying new keto goodies. I think one reason I think itās so fun is because I love trying things that I did not have to make! I think when we do decide to change our diet to the Virta treatment and a keto lifestyle, we give up A LOT of conveniences that we are used to just buying, like a bag of chips or a box of cookies. Yes, we SHOULD say goodbye to all those products packed with carbs and chemicals that make us sick, but gosh it would be so nice to find something convenient that is low carb and has good ingredients just to help life be a bit easier and tastier! So thatās my main objective with these sample boxes is maybe just maybe I might find one or two things that will make me happy and life somewhat better.
So I thought each month I would give a review of the products I receive. This is just my personal opinion on things and you could have a completely different take. It also can depend on the stage you are in treatment. Newbies need to be careful. In fact, everyone needs to be careful with some things that might have higher carbs because it could take a lot of restraint on whether you can handle them and incorporate them into your meal plan. Some could be things you could have more often and some things could be for a special occasion and some things should be never probably. Even though products are labeled keto or low carb, this is not a unanimous stamp of approval! Labels and ingredients still need to be read and testing should still be done on some things.
I usually also have a couple of rules I go by when evaluating these products for myself. I usually donāt consider anything with double-digit carbs per serving. I just think that is too high carb for me. I shoot for 20 carbs per day and if a bar is 18 carbs, thatās just a no-go. Could you conceivably slice a small piece off and have that? Yes, if you are made of steel! Ha! That has never worked for me, no matter how hard I try! I say one slice, then that becomes two slices, then the next thing is I have eaten the whole bar! Not good! So when I open the box, and there WILL be 18 carb bars inside, I immediately set those aside to give them to my son to take to work for a low-carb snack I also set aside anything with too many questionable ingredients. Things donāt have to be perfect. We still have to live in this world, but if the carbs are low enough and the offending ingredient is somewhat far down on the ingredient list I will consider it.
I also only try one product per day for the next ten days after receiving the box. And if you believe that I have some swamp land in Florida to sell you! Ha! I really do try to sample just a bite or two of each thing and seal them up for another day but will admit to eating entire serving MANY times if it was really good. So on The Keto Box day, I try to keep my meal carbs lower, but Iām sure I go over. So definitely something to consider if you think that will be a problem to receive a boxful of goodies all at once. But I look at sampling and reviewing products as something fun to do for everyone so hopefully, it can be of help! š
So all this being said, if I come away from a box with one or two things I might want to buy, that I think will make my life or yours better, Iām happy! So here is my review of this month's products by The Keto Box. I will mark them, YES, NO, and MAYBE. Iāll also try to indicate if any of the products could be helpful for Newbies. š
Here is a link that takes you to The Keto Box website if you would like to try these things on your own. Itās fun for me to see whatās new in the keto world and it really is like Christmas twelve months of the year!š

Natural Garden Probiotic Keto Snack Mix
This was good. I think it needed a little more salt, but thatās easily fixed. It comes in a large bag or individual snack bag and has an assortment of nuts with cheese balls. Would be great to take it on the go or keep it at the office too. Only 4 carbs per serving. This is a great price for 2 bags!

Rugged Meats JalapeƱo Pork Sticks
This was good. Iām not a huge fan of any of the meat sticks. They are OK but are a good protein snack if you are falling short on your protein. The jalapeƱo flavor has all good ingredients, but be sure to check the other flavors. Only 1 carb per stick. Good for on-the-go snacks.

Mauvuno Harvest Dried Organic Coconut
Mavuno Harvest Dried Organic Coconut is very good and very crunchy. It didnāt have a huge coconut taste to me, more of just a generic nutty taste. Only 13 carbs for the entire bag and there was a lot of dried coconut inside. This would be good used for keto desserts or I think it would be great with some Sugar-free chocolate chips sprinkled on yogurt or cereal.

Smartcake
Smartcake is very good! Excellent in fact. Lots of flavors. Iāve had several of the flavors and they all are very good. The chocolate came in The Keto Box. A couple of questionable ingredients, but for only 9 carbs for a cupcake I would have these on a special occasion. Would save having to make something and these would make non-keto people happy too I think, especially if some Sugarfree icing was added. A little pricey, but I would pay it! This would be a product to test with just to verify itās OK.

Keto Krakād Peanut Butter Caramel Crunch Bar
A Keto Butterfinger! OMG! Actually, this really belongs on the NO list, but Keto Butterfinger! š³ These are very, very good, proceed with caution. Not quite as sweet as a regular Butterfinger, but really darn close. They are also ridiculously expensive, even for me. I would not buy them for that reason alone. They are $6 for one tiny bar, half the size of a regular Butterfinger!! I suppose if you cut it in half, maybe just maybe, but itās a Keto Butterfinger! I just need to keep saying it over and over. Can you guess my favorite candy bar of all time? š«

Keto Farms Maple Candied Pecans
These are delicious. One questionable ingredient of molasses, but I donāt think that much. Only 8 carbs for an ounce which plain pecans are half that, so basically you are having four carbs of sweetener. I make a salad here on Virtaworks called Baby Blue Salad and it calls for candied pecans. I might sprinkle a few of these on the salad to save time making them. Itās only an ounce per serving and for nuts thatās nothing for me! Ha! They are my Achilles Heel so I would not buy these for a snack, but might buy them to go on a salad or dessert. š„

Here are some of these glazed nuts by Schoolyard Snacks.

Ice Chips
Ice Chips Candy are very good! They come in a cute tin. I think I have only tried the Mixed Berry flavor before, but there are several other flavors. The ingredients are good, but the only trouble is they are one carb for one tiny, tiny piece. So if you can control yourself and only have a 2-3 it would be great to have just a small piece of candy, especially if your mouth is dry or you just want a little something sweet. š¬

This bar has 18 carbs! Way too many in my opinion. š²
