I’ve been using Keto Chow products for about 4-5 years now. I started with their great protein shakes that come in so many unique flavors, then branched out to their delicious soups. I’ll talk more about those two keto products a little later. I wanted to first talk about the brand new exciting Keto Chow electrolyte drink mix called SALTT. It just debuted at the end of December 2023 and I have happily been sampling all the great flavors! I probably started including an electrolyte drink in my daily keto routine about a year ago. I KNEW sodium was important when on a ketogenic diet, but after a few years, I admit to letting the importance slip some. I had started Virta diligently drinking the bouillon cubes twice a day that was included in the welcome kit, then after a year or so, I just got kind of tired of it and then switched to the Salt Stick tablets to get the required amount of sodium. Then I would run out of it and get complacent and decide, “Oh, I don’t need to spend the money on those salt tablets!” Fast forward another couple of years, and I read the book THE SALT FIX by Dr. James DiNicolantonio. Talk about an eye-opening book! Here is my review of it on Virtaworks.
If ever you doubt your need for sodium and the importance of it, read this book! For years we have been conditioned to think sodium is so evil! So many products proudly display that they are low or no sodium. For those not on a ketogenic diet there could be medical reasons that are needed, but those of us on keto need to be particularly aware of our sodium intake! Our bodies need certain levels of sodium to function properly. Too little salt can affect so many things like insulin resistance, blood pressure, weight loss, and more! To increase sodium and all the important electrolytes, research has shown that things like mood, energy, brainpower, muscle health, bone health, and more can all benefit. If you are unsure of the proper amount of sodium and other electrolytes you need to be sure to check with your health coach!

So this is just a little background on why I FINALLY chose to pay more attention to my sodium intake! I’ve tried two other electrolyte drinks and liked Ultima right away, and LMNT had to grow on me a bit. I thought it was way too salty and I made the mistake of somehow trying the flavors with the peppers in them I did not like those at all, but since have tried other flavors without the peppers I’ve gotten used to the more salty taste. But I know some people do not like a strong salty taste and that’s why Keto Chow electrolyte mix would be such an excellent choice in addition to all its other benefits including price.
Keto Chow Saltt electrolyte drink is packed with essential electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium, and plays a crucial role in supporting hydration and minimizing the notorious keto flu symptoms. It has a balanced electrolyte composition. Sodium helps maintain fluid balance, potassium supports proper muscle function, and magnesium contributes to energy production.
Here are the great flavors and macros!
Here is a macronutrient comparison between the three electrolyte drinks, Saltt, LMNT, and Ultima.
Keto Chow Saltt
LMNT
Ultima
The main considerations to me are based on the factors below and to keep things as similar as possible I used the Orange flavor for comparison so they would be relatively the same flavor. I’m trying to be very scientific!😃
Carbohydrates-Keto Chow( <1 ) LMNT( 2 ) Ultima( 0 )
CaloriesKeto Chow( 3 ) LMNT( 10 ) Ultima( 0 )
Sodium-Keto Chow( 960mg ) LMNT( 1000mg ) Ultima( 55mg )
Magnesium-Keto Chow( 178mg ) LMNT( 60mg ) Ultima( 100mg )
Potassium-Keto Chow( 415mg ) LMNT(200mg ) Ultima(260mg )
Ingredients-Similiar. All are sweetened with Stevia, except Ultima also has some Beet Juice
Cost per packet-Keto Chow( $1.10 ) LMNT( $1.50 ) Ultima( $1.05 ) Price can change with various options like how much you buy, whether you bundle or subscribe or get free shipping. The prices I quoted were based on just the one-time purchase price.
How do they taste?
I have tried just about all the flavors of all three mixes and did so in 16 ounces of water
Keto Chow: Mild flavor, mild salt flavor. I liked all the flavors except not sure about the chocolate and caramel flavors. I tried them in my iced coffee and it’s possible I could grow to like it, but I would have to say, no I wouldn’t use those two flavors right now, but I love the fruit flavors.
LMNT: Very strong flavor, very salty flavor. I first thought LMNT was too salty, but I’ve gotten used to it now. I like the fruity flavors, except the one with the chili pepper. I’m also not a fan of the chocolate and caramel flavors. The sodium content is almost the same as Keto Chow, but LMNT tastes very much more salty.
Ultima: Very mild flavor, very mild salt flavor. I think Ultima promotes itself as a hydration replenisher, so that’s really how I view it as something to flavor water. It doesn’t have much sodium but does have a comparable amount of potassium, magnesium, and some other vitamins and minerals.
Keto Chow also has electrolyte drops and capsules if that’s a better way for you to get your electrolyte benefits!
Keto Chow also has Fasting Drops that can be added into your favorite drink so easily! It’s so important to get the proper amount of sodium when fasting, even intermittent fasting. Below is the information on these great drops to help make fasting easier.
Keto Chow has so many options! This is a personal choice, particularly with what kind of a salty taste you would prefer and all the macro considerations, plus the price of course. The decision on which electrolyte drink mix, if any, and how much, should be arrived at with a discussion with your health coach, Virta provider, or your PCP before adding electrolytes to your daily routine.

I hope this comparison helps you! Now on to the other great Keto Chow products!
Keto Chow Protein Shakes
I’ve been using Keto Chow protein shakes for a long time. Protein is such a crucial macro to so many various bodily functions. It plays a key role in building and repairing tissues supports immune function, and especially helps maintain muscle mass. Adequate protein is essential to overall health and also has anti-aging benefits. We lose muscle mass as we age and we need to do everything we can to prevent that from happening, so that’s why I have relied on the Keto Chow protein shakes for the last several years. I love the interesting flavors. They have seasonal flavors too which makes it fun and keeps things from getting boring. I like that you can make them fresh, very easily. You could just use the shaker cup that comes with some of the orders, or I like to use a blender because I add ice to make them thick like a milkshake. You can also add your desired amount of fat based on whether you use water, unsweetened almond milk, butter, or heavy cream for example. When my son lived at home I would make him two Keto Chow shakes to take to work every day. (You can even make them the night before and they are all ready to go!) I would also add some vanilla extract, but you can experiment with different extract flavors, add flavored Sugarfree syrup, add more sweetener, and add some fruit or veggies, the sky is the limit with what you can do with them! Sometimes it’s just so nice to make a quick shake and not have a whole meal to cook! Especially great for breakfast!
Here are the macros on the Vanilla flavor.
What a delicious way to get almost 30 grams of protein!
I’ve been experimenting with using the Keto Chow protein shake and soup mixes in different recipes. The Keto Chow website has so many recipes to make with both! I made the best chaffles with the egg nog flavor. ( I think vanilla will work if the egg nog flavor isn’t available.) These were the best sweet chaffles I have ever made! Here is the recipe, I subbed the cranberries with blueberries.
This is just a small sample of some other recipes to make with the Keto Chow mixes.

Keto Chow Soups
I’ve been using these soups recently on their own, or if I’m making something saucy I will add a package of one of these great savory soups for more flavor and additional protein. The soups have a comparable macro composition as the protein shakes, so all the same benefits from the added protein. They come in four flavors and I will add spices, veggies, different proteins, heavy cream and I have discovered adding a package of shirataki noodles to the soup mixes makes such a great healthy filling meal! I’m actually kind of obsessed. I love soup with noodles and I also like things spicy so I have found that I can add extra spices to make the soup mixes as spicy as I like. (I’ve been using spicy Dan 0’s seasoning) There are so many great protein shakes and soup mix recipes on the Keto Chow website. Here is the direct link to check them all out.
I also have a Keto Chow recipe board on my Pinterest page at:
Here are the four soup flavors.
This is the nutritional information on the Beef Soup Base Mix-Very low carb and a great source of protein and other vitamins and minerals!
The Keto Chow shakes and soups are made with quality ingredients and both are packed with all the nutrients you need for complete meal replacement, but you can enhance them even more by adding your own ingredients!
I think that’s it! I don’t have anything left to say (Ha!) except I hope you can give these great Keto Chow products a try and they can help you with your keto journey as much as they have helped me with mine!
Wishing you good health and happiness,
Denise🩷
