I recently saw The Pioneer Woman make her Olive Cheese Bread, which looked SO good. What a great way to serve something different than just plain garlic bread. This bread would be excellent served with low-carb pasta or just a salad!
So my keto brain started churning on how to make this healthier and lower in carbs, and I decided I needed to make some Olive Cheesy Chaffles!
I only had about a tablespoon of bread mix left to make three chaffles, so I wasn’t sure how they would turn out, so I modified the recipe I had been using just a little. And I think this also shows that you can experiment and use varying amounts of everything to find your perfect Fox Hill Kitchens chaffle!
I used:
1 Tablespoon Bread Mix
1 Large Egg
2 Tablespoons Water
2 Tablespoons Heavy Cream
Mix well and let rest for five minutes; it will get considerably thicker. This made three delicious chaffles!
With the small amount of bread mix I had left, these chaffles came out so light and fluffy! I watched the lid on the Dash Mini Waffle maker rising! I did flip it over at about two minutes to make it a bit more done on both sides, but this probably isn’t that necessary. I spread each with softened butter and sprinkled with garlic powder for flavor.
I made The Pioneer Woman Olive Cheese Bread for my son’s birthday party the previous day and had some of the cheese mixture left over. You could cut this recipe in half (but I wouldn’t, and I would keep on making these yummy chaffles!) I could eat these every day!
Here’s the recipe and video. Of course swap out the French bread with chaffles and I used Mozzarella instead of the Monterrey Jack cheese because I forgot to buy it, but either one would work great!
I then spread two tablespoons of the cheese mixture on each chaffle and popped them in the air fryer for about two minutes until they looked melty. But you could use a conventional oven or a toaster oven also.
Take them out, and if you can eat them fresh and hot, that is how to do it. I hope you enjoy these as much as I have! Oh wow, they were so good!
And if you don’t have a Mini Dash Waffle/Chaffle Maker yet, you have GOT to get one! It’s a Keto Law. I’m afraid Keto authorities will appear at your door if you don’t have one!😃 It is life-changing and makes a difference in your keto journey. You can get these everywhere now, but here’s an easy, inexpensive one to buy on Amazon. Available in lots of colors!
And this is handy, saves a lot of time, and the chaffles don’t get cold!
Experimenting with Bread Mix by Fox Hill Kitchens
I 🩷 this product! I’ve made rolls, buns, baguettes, tortillas, pizza crusts, and even used it like crescent dough to make some Pigs in a Blanket for the Super Bowl! All these recipes will be available very soon here on virtaworks!
BUT! I had not thought of a chaffle yet. So, off to my test kitchen for the experiments to find the perfect chaffle! I tried using varying amounts of bread mix, and I have found that you can make it however you like it! I’ll post the recipe soon for all my chaffle experimentations.
I love using this bread mix because no cheese is involved, and I felt like I was eating a great piece of bread! Although adding cheese would be another experiment right there! These Fox Hill Kitchens Bread Mix chaffles are extremely low-carb! I’ve contacted Fox Hill Kitchens to find out the carb count of one Tablespoon. The math is a little over my head trying to convert ounces to Tablespoons, but the carb count is not very much. I estimate about three carbs per chaffle, but I will update this when I know! I tried so many different ways to use this bread mix. AND this mix contains NO WHEAT with only the best good clean Ingredients!
The bread mix also makes it so easy to make chaffles. A couple of spoonfuls of bread mix, an egg, a couple of spoonfuls of heavy cream and water and that’s it, easy peasy!
It also doesn’t make a cheesy, oily mess of the chaffle maker! I do take cleanup very much into consideration!
So to try out this fantastic product you can buy just a single package on Amazon. I also would urge you to read the reviews on Amazon. Some people love this bread mix, and some don’t. But that’s with just about everything. I think the percentage is more favorable in liking it. It could also depend on where you are in your keto journey. If you just started and had carby bread last week you could be one of those in the unfavorable category, but if you’re like me and have been doing keto for years a piece of cardboard spread with natural peanut butter would taste good! So PLEASE just be open-minded. Give this bread mix a chance. Make different things, and you may like it better another way. But I’m just going to end by saying I LOVE it!
But if you want to live life on the wild side and go for it, Fox Hill Kitchens has a Bread Mix Bundle of 4 mixes that brings the price way down.
I used ALL the Fox Hill Kitchens products and discussed them in a blog post here for more information.
