I feel apprehensive about cooking a Turkey sometimes. It’s just so big! But I usually use a baking bag to help it stay moist, hopefully. I have cooked some dry turkey before because I’m unsure of the baking time. I wait for the little red thermometer thing to pop up, but sometimes it doesn’t!

I have always cooked my turkey the same way, except for one year when I found a recipe with chipotle maple butter! Delicious! You may want to give it a try! You will need to substitute the carby maple syrup with your favorite sugar-free maple syrup. I used Walden Farms because it has zero carbs. And it was so good mixed with the warmed butter sauce.

But, to get back to my basic recipe. To prepare the turkey, I put seasoning salt and pepper on the outside and then spread softened butter all over it. Optionally, I have put sage leaves under the skin before, which makes it look so pretty. And then I add a mix of onions, celery, and carrots and place them into the cavity,

Place the turkey in the bag and cook at 325 degrees until the thermometer indicates it’s done.

And how long should it take for a turkey to bake? The cooking times will vary depending on the size of the turkey and if it is stuffed or not. I've learned you can't always rely on that red button to pop!
