More cabbage for St. Patrick’s Day, or this is good any day. I’m not sure if St. Patrick would like the spicy or not, though! One of my favorite meals is Fried Cabbage with Bacon, but this Creamy Spicy Cabbage goes one step further! It also doesn’t have to be spicy. I used a jalapeno cheddar sausage, which I like a lot by Eckrich, and I also included a chopped jalapeño. 🌶️
This could be a main dish or served on the side. I served it on the side tonight. Super good!
Here’s the Easy Recipe for Spicy Creamy Cabbage
These are all approximate, I didn’t measure anything, so you can definitely make it however you like!
2 packages of sausage of choice, I used Jalapeno Cheddar by Eckrich, but polish, andouille, or any other kind would be good.
Slice and sauté in a pan and remove from the pan.
To the drippings add 1 small chopped onion and one chopped jalapeño, if you like. Sauté till tender, then add two heaping tablespoons of minced garlic. Sauté for another minute or so.
Then, add to the pan one head of cabbage chopped into squares. I like the squares, but however, you like your cabbage is perfectly fine.
At this point, I added seasoning salt and crushed black pepper.
After the cabbage has cooked for a few minutes, pour the heavy cream you would like. I tried to keep it a little under control, and it was about 2/3 cup.
Then add about 2/3 cup shredded parmesan cheese. Stir and taste to see if the seasoning is OK.
Enjoy! 😊
